Lost in Thought

Wandering around,

Pacing Back and Forth,

Lost in thought.

Forever skipping steps,

Having gaps in logic,

But wanting the end resolved.

Thinking Thinking Thinking,

Sometimes wondering

Sometimes just letting it flow

Random thought taking over.

Chaos growing as you climb deep,

Digging Deeper into the steps of thought.

Climbing in and over

Not knowing if you will slip and fall

Not knowing what lays behind the next

Just continuing forward with everything, yet nothing in sight.

What makes us believe what we hear from certain sources?  Why is it that we take certain information for fact?  Most people hear a word used and never stop to wonder if the word was used correctly or not.  I myself am guilty of this, I hear a new word and remember it in context, never stopping to look up the actual definition of the word.  Habits like these have led to a lot of misinformation in our society.  However, if everyone around you has the same misconceptions, are they still misconceptions?  Or do they become fact at that point?  After all, the purpose of words is to communicate, if communication is achieved, doesn’t that validate the words that were used?

Although, I think this theory of validity does work with words and the development of language, there are a lot of things that I don’t think it could work with.  For example, history; you can be taught all sorts of misconceptions and probably have been, and you may even choose to still believe those things, but your beliefs don’t make it truth or fact, just simply a misconception.  Your beliefs can’t change cold, hard facts, but they can change your perceptions of those facts, creating your own reality.  A world that only you can decide what the facts are, and what you choose to ignore.

So why then do schools and people in general continue to teach misconceptions of information that have been around and been exposed for years and some for decades?  More importantly, why haven’t we, as a society, learned to question what we’re being taught?

Wasting Time in Life

Time is flying

Joy, Peace, Excitement, Tears

All a part of life

It runs by you in a cloud

A haze of emotions and experiences

Life

You don’t know when it will be over

Just play as if your at the last level

Keep it moving

Don’t watch it drive by you and leave you in the dust

Sitting and waiting gets you nowhere

Worrying and Waiting is Nothing

Useless, they get you nowhere

Better to press on and through

Live life, instead of wasting time.

Lightning flashes up in the sky,

So Strong and Powerful

The evening show of truth and beauty

The light of heaven flashes

The majestic peacefulness shows.

Feeling of grandure before you

Fills you with knowledge of something more

Look up and see the flash that comes before the crash.

Questions of Beauty
icon1 cnj222 | icon2 Life | icon4 06 26th, 2009| icon3No Comments »

What makes someone beautiful?  What is it that attracts us to someone else?  Why is it that one person’s idea of the perfect mate is another person’s nightmare?  Is it the way we were designed so that everyone gets a chance?  Why is it that some people truly only care about the inside, while others would rather people just came as beautiful outside shells with no emotional content, feelings, or baggage to go with them?

Why is it that some people lack the confidence they need when they look like a super model, while others feel that they are God’s gift to earth yet nobody seems to agree with them?

What makes a person confident in their beauty?  Is it knowing yourself and being comfortable with that person?  Is it being flattered by random strangers or by the person that you love?

What is the difference between beauty and sexiness, or pretty?  I think that true beauty really does come from the inside…I know I can find someone very attractive until they open their mouth and then I have to jet out.  Get out of the situation because they have lost all attraction in my eyes because of their ugly or shallow personality.  Although this does not bother some people.  I have seen people go after people they could never have a conversation with because they simply want to get them into bed.

There rarely seems to be a common ground when you ask people what beauty is….Some people will automatically think of another person, while others think of a scene in nature or a painting they saw once in a museum.

So what makes someone beautiful?  How do we recognize that beauty?

Emotional Weather

Weathering the storm together

Grab on tight and don’t let go

Rocky waves will come and go

Splash, Crash, Smack

Everything comes at once

The peak of the storm shows true faith

Love will last and a rainbow will be seen

My love doesn’t feel the wind blowing

Standing strong in the middle of the waves

Knowing you are there

Getting flashes in the ligtning

Always keeping you in sight

Never wanting to lose you.

Appreciate the Beauty
icon1 cnj222 | icon2 Life | icon4 06 24th, 2009| icon3No Comments »

It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos and craziness of life; work, responsibilities; it’s easy to lose track of the things that really matter to you.  Love, family, friends, the beauty in nature.  Everyone treasures something different that they might get distracted from at one point or another.  Maybe it’s someone’s acting career or music….it’s easy to get caught up in the To Do List and forget about the things that make you really passionate, that make you light up and enjoy life.

Some people only need someone they love to appreciate their life, some people need to see a beautiful sun set, or hear their favorite song….No matter what each of us considers beautiful, I think it’s important that we don’t get caught up in all of the “have to’s” of life and forget about the things that we want to have around us.  It’s important to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us in life.  I think that without beauty, life isn’t worth living.  Nothing left to make you passionate, nothing to remind you of why you are alive.

Media Influence

The Governor of South Carolina is missing…and yet nobody seems to be concerned.  He apparently just said that he needed time away from his wife and kids to write something and left…nobody knows where and nobody has heard from him in several days…and yet nobody seems worried…The media is just reporting it almost like it’s a joke.  I think that this situation is proving that the media decides what people consider to be a big issue and what can just be passed over.  Point and case, the governor has been missing for three days and nobody has said anything until today.  It seems like after 24 hours people would be concerned about a political official.  I know a lot of people in South Carolina don’t really like their Governor at the moment after the whole stimulus package ordeal, where he refused to take funds to help the state for a political stunt to get media attention.  Everyone knows he wants to run for President and is just trying to make a name for himself…but I think this disappearing act is just a little over the top.  It doesn’t really matter if you like the guy or not, it seems like your governor is someone that somebody would keep track of….Last I knew the governor was someone who was important in the running of a state, but maybe I’ve been misinformed all of these years.

I mean, obviously the media doesn’t think it’s a big deal, they’re just laughing it off, and it seems like everyone else is just going by their lead.  It makes me sad that people don’t think for themselves any more.  If the media was flipping out about the governor and reporting on it every commercial break and had it on the front page of every paper, I have a feeling we would see a very different reaction from the people of South Carolina.

Motivation

I think it’s interesting to learn the way people work…everyone has different emotions, different reactions, and different things that motivate them.  Have you ever gone to the mall or out in public and just sat and watched people?  Everyone is motivated by something different, and I find that I like to guess what that is with complete strangers.  Some people just appear completely obsessed with something:  looks, money, love (lust), being the best……everyone has something that motivates them, the key is to figure out what it is when you are dealing with them.  I think this is a hard thing to do….it’s hard enough just to figure out what you are motivated by.  I think it’s an important aspect of self evaluation because if you don’t know what motivates you, how can you know if someone is trying to use that to control you, or at least an aspect of you???  Something to think about anyway.

Movie Emotions
icon1 cnj222 | icon2 Life | icon4 06 20th, 2009| icon32 Comments »

Why do so many people like to watch sad or scary movies….is there not enough problems in their life for them to worry about.  Are their lives so dull and boring that they need to experience sorrow and strife through movie characters?  I just don’t understand the appeal of opening yourself up to these emotions any more than you have to.

I confess that sometimes I like a good thriller or two, but generally I like a good happy ending.  I hate sad endings.  I like it when the good guy ends, we all know it doesn’t happen often in real life, so it’s good to see it happen in a movie once in awhile.  It’s good to know that at least in some one’s imagination they still believe that it can happen in life.

Movies can stir some of the most powerful emotions if the movie is made well…which is so strange because we know that they aren’t real people and yet sometimes when someone dies or a very powerful scene happens with a lot of extreme emotion you can usually see tears in a room of people.  Someone will be crying…..I think it’s pretty crazy that imaginary people can grab at your mind and your heart, make chaos of your thoughts, and take you on a ride of emotions in two hours, and yet some people you see every day can’t get any sympathy from you unless it’s something truly life altering.
