Life’s Song

Life is a song,
fluid and free
ever changing,
never knowing
unexpected
always happening.
Moving through
Living through
Immersed in the song.
The music,
The beat of our lives
Sometimes fast
Sometimes slow
Sometimes out of rhythm…
We move through the song
like a never ending dance
Keeping time
Swaying and Spinning
Never holding still
Not wanting the harmony to disappear,
We move through life’s song.

– Shakespeare corrections –
life is a bitch, a game,
a futile existence –
a leaf flickering with inconsistence
a puff of smoke blown away in the distance
life is a fight,
a bold-faced lie
told with conviction,
a purgatory ruled by bigots,
dominated with hate
a sacred word too often corrupted
by conflict and contradiction
life is a cruel joke too often repeated
humorous in its brevity
then gone in an instant

I really enjoy this, in a dark kind of way. I like what it says about life and the lies that it is sometimes based on. Too often people lie to each other, but more importantly they lie to themselves. I often wonder how many people live in an altered reality because they can not face the truth, they can no longer tell the difference between a lie and the truth…they have convinced themselves that whatever they say is true, no matter if what they say or think is based in everyone’s reality or not…it then becomes their reality.
I also think that it makes a great point about the brevity of life; how it disappears right in front of us.
