I think our society is creating a lazy generation in the younger generation, both physically and mentally….but how has this happened? Who’s “fault” is it that our kids complain about having to walk up stairs and aren’t able to take the elevator, or have to pick up their own mess, or be responsible for their own things and keeping track of them. It also amazes me how the younger generation cannot seem to retain information, or carry it over from one class period to another….but who do we blame…is it any one’s fault?
Why does there seem to be a whole category of reality TV shows that are devoted to showing how parents have screwed up their children? Things like “World’s Strictest Parents” or “Supper Nanny” or “Nanny 911″ Seem to be making a killing in the world of reality TV shows…..when did parents stop parenting, when did parents decide that they needed to be more of a friend instead of a parent? When did it become OK to disrespect your parents or take advantage of the things that your parents provide for you? When did it become OK to not be grateful but always wanting more and whining about everything?
Was it when both parents had to start working in our economy? Was it when technology became available to enough families that it replaced family time and babysitters? What makes some of these people think that they owe their kids the right to be disrespectful, rude, selfish and lazy? What is wrong with kids having to do chores or earn what they get? Instead it seems like the younger generation as a whole seems to think that they are entitled to things and seem to expect things that they haven’t earned or even attempted to earn.
I’m not sure when working hard became a bad thing and now everyone just expects things and seem to think that the things will just appear instead of someone having to work for them….I wonder how many teenagers today understand how much their parents pay for their cell phone, cable, Internet, etc…..
How can we change our kids back to the values of hard work and feeling proud that they worked hard for what they have instead of teaching them to look for the quick and easy way? I really think that our society is slipping quickly downhill and this laziness and expectancy is only going to transfer into adult hood, if not with this generation, then with their kids when the kids today are raising their kids the way that they were taught by their parents. I think that our society needs to be careful before we dig ourselves a hole that we cannot get out of….eventually there will not be anybody left that knows how to work hard to provide for all of these expectant people.

The miracle of life is seen in a child’s smile, heard in their laughter. It’s the gentle touch of a loved one, because you’re scared or sad, or just because they care. The caring of those who love you reveal the miracle of life. The passion that we all have is swallowed up in the monotony of every day life. Gets lost in the darkness of responsibilities and procedures. The things we need to do instead of what we want to do. When did life become a day of routine, we did society as a whole lose the passionate spark for staying alive? Is it possible for one person or a couple to keep that passion alive within themselves? When did society start forgetting that life is a gift…a miracle that we should celebrate, not simply endure? Life is a precious thing, and yet it is cast aside by so many in our society, in many different ways. It some cases people see life as expendable. In some cases they just stop caring what happens in their own life…could be any number of things, but it all comes down to the same thing, it is sad the way we don’t value life in our society any more. We have turned our lives into simply scraping by, getting through today so that we can worry about tomorrow when it comes….how sad.

What cau, ses some people to get defensive at the smallest comment, while others never stop to think that they might offend someone with one of those comments. Sometimes the same people that make the comments are the ones that are the quickest to be on the defensive if something is said in their direction.
What is it that makes us want to always defend our reputation, even to people that do not matter in our lives, or maybe we don’t even know? I wish we had more people like the few that I know who are so confident in who they are that they could really care less about anybody else’s opinion about them. I wonder if it is lack of self confidence, guilt, or some other deceitful feeling that makes us feel like we need to defend ourselves against ugly rumors that have no bearing on anything except to entertain the small minds that create them.
So many people feel the need to get up, get loud, or get angry when something is said about them…maybe true, maybe not…sometimes the truth hurts more than the lies.

The comfort and love from the one you’re meant to be with
Can do more for you than anything else in the world
True love can endure and carry on through the toughest of times
No matter what happens between you, you’re always there together
Always there for each other, no matter what needs to be done
Enduring loving that lasts through the sunshine and the storms
In one loving touch, word or act, everything can come back together
The love is the glue and bond between you two
The love and trust that is always there, is the security that you have
Even without words or the gentle touch you have that love and trust
The search for security has ended in the realization that love is forever.

I think that our society is addicted to technology…when did it become socially unacceptable to not own a computer because you can’t afford it? People seem put off if someone doesn’t have an email address or constant Internet access. Some people even expect everyone to have instant responses to their email because they have a blackberry with Internet access, everyone must have the same technology…
Thinking back, not that many years ago, I didn’t have Internet access at all. Now it seems like most people live on the Internet; you can take classes, you can read a lot of books, watch videos, communicate, live chat….and the list goes on and on….I think it is easy for some people to forget that not everyone is able to live in the latest technology. Some people do not have computers, some people can’t even afford books, much less a cell phone, and yet so many people don’t ever stop to think about the fact that there are people who do not live the same life style as what they are use to seeing every day.
I think it’s important for us to realize that although society is moving forward with technology advancements and more and more people are gaining access to all of the new technology in the world. However, there are still many, many others who do not live in the technology obsessed world…even if they can afford a computer, they simply choose to do other things rather than sitting in front of the computer for all of their free time. I do not believe that we are doing anything wrong by taking advantage of the technology that we have…but at what point are we so obsessed that we simply couldn’t live without it…that we would start to go through some type of withdraw if we didn’t have our computer, cell phone, or Internet? I see so many people who seem to never take the blue tooth out of their ear, who can’t stand to turn their cell phone off, afraid that they will miss a call, text, or email.
I think that it is important to remember that we did get along without all of this technology, not that many years ago…it is equally important for us to remember not to assume that everyone has access to the same technology as you or your friends do.

Gliding along the smooth surface
Nice and gentle, but restless
Peaceful and calm, yet face paced
Life and the whirlwinds of the world
Chatter and Clatter,
Spacious and Graceful
The things of life’s wordless conversations.
Images floating in the mind
Gently out into space,
A never ending dance of thoughts and flashes
Images taken in during the day
Gestures you put out to others
In dreams things play out
As the clouds of our reality are filled
Body language, sunsets, signs, and signals
All coming together for mental conversation

Like the waves gentle pulse along the shore
Acceptance comes in calm gentle waves
Acceptance, as the calm and the peace come with it
Knowing that what will be, will be, knowing that I’m not in control
Knowing that love will last
Love and hope, admiration and trust
Knowing that the caring love is still in the two hearts
Peace and Joy are the hope, it’s what brings on the waves of acceptance
Love and trust will bring on the sparkles of the water
As the sun sets on another day I hear the waves’ gentleness
As I lay down I can feel my heart beat soften and relax
Acceptance throughout my body, as I think of you
The joy and peace found in your love
Knowing that the calm voice of peace is close at hand
Knowing that although the heart strains, Love holds it together.

Colors shining all around
The colors catching in the light
The diamond crystal giving the effect
The child looks up at the window
Sticking their hand out to catch the rainbow
Wonder and awe on the face of innocence.
Looking up at the clouds where the colors spill out after the storm
The child stares wondering where it ends
Wondering why they can’t reach it
Wondering how they can fly
Imagination and Innocence combine to give life
The miracle found in a child’s laughter, smile and questions.
Hoping that they will hang on to their imagination and innocence
We watch in awe as they discover the world through the rainbows.

The green of the trees shine on the cool water
The small peaceful noises of the lake surround you
Enjoying nature as you look out on the view
The sun is setting in the distance behind the trees
The mountains are outlined by the sun’s brilliant rainbow
The cool breeze calms your soul, almost like magic
Walking by the water hands clasped
The paired reflections clear on the water
Wondering how you managed this
The beauty of the place matched with the feeling of your heart
Your soul reflecting the calm of the water, as you know all is finally right.

Sometimes I wonder if human emotions is God’s little joke on us….It’s crazy how such good feelings at times can cause so much pain. It’s really annoying that your emotions can be flying high one day, happy and sunny; and then the next come tumbling down on you. I hate that some emotions are so easily influenced. Granted the “good” feelings like love, joy, and happiness are wonderful to experience, but sometimes they have to battle with things like hate, sadness, jealousy, and worry.
Why are we stuck with these uncontrollable emotions? We can generally control our reaction to the emotion but not the feeling itself, we’re just stuck with how we feel…. Sometimes you really wish that you didn’t feel certain things because it would make you feel better At that moment, sometimes it would make you feel better in general not to feel certain things. Sometimes you really wish you felt something, but simply don’t.
What is really annoying is when you can’t hide feelings that you don’t want others to see….even if you are stuck with the emotions that you naturally feel, sometimes you just wish that you can at least cover them up, but when you can’t even get the control over them to hide them from people that you don’t know or people that you don’t want to see them, then you might end up feeling defeated by yourself. How disheartening to have yourself, what’s naturally inside of you, working against you, or at least making you feel like it’s working against you in certain situations.
But sometimes feelings lie….leading to a roller coaster of irrational thoughts, or stress that is completely unwarranted…..What do you believe your logic or your emotions…???
