Take another look
But don’t look back
No regrets but fond memories
The time spent in the blissfulness of love
Look around the corner, not able to see around the bend
Looking for clarity but only able to replay the confusion
Knowing that the love is powerful
It will always be there, no matter what angle it’s viewed
Powerful and always there
The joy when I hear your voice
The happiness and peace that comes with your touch
Not wanting it to disappear into the foggy complications of life
Not wanting to give it up, we go on
Hand in hand, squeeze tight and let me know you’re there
Never alone, our love grows and grows
In the comfort of knowing that you care
We’re here and our love is here to stay.

Fairy wings flutter by your head
You gasp at the beauty of the flowers all around
Green and peaceful
The bubbling of the stream flows by
Sanctuary…
The perfumes fill the nostrils
Colorful petals hidden in the vines
Green and alive, hidden away
Safe and Secure.
Feeling safe and at peace
Calmness fills the air as you escape
Hiding for a time from reality.

What are we teaching the younger generation when you can see a 15 year old throw a full out temper tantrum with stopping feet and slamming of doors? What have we done to make that seem like it is ok past the age of 2. We should be breaking our kids of that habit when they are 2 not when they are 20 and get fired from numerous jobs and end up on welfare because they can’t deal with things that happen in their work place, or when they don’t agree with their boss. What are we teaching younger kids for them to think that if they stomp around, yell, or be rude and think that it will help them in any sort of way. A teenager is way too old to be acting childish and not communicating like a young adult. And yet it seems like more and more young adults are not maturing like they once did. It seems like they are interested in things that are way beyond what they are ready for and try to be too much of an adult while still acting childish in their behaviors. I know that the teenage years are hard for most people, but there comes a point when we need to realize that as a society we are failing to raise these young people in a way that will make them responsible and mature adults. It’s the “gimme” generation. Too many of our young people think that they are entitled to things that they have not earned and if they are not given what they want then they have the right to complain, yell, stomp, and be rude as if they had something to be offended over. If parents don’t begin to raise their kids the way they need to as a parent instead of as a friend, they these problems will continue to grow.

It’s amazing the power of frustration, denial, anger, sadness, fear….they can all make a person forget themselves for a time, short or long, doesn’t really matter, as long as they can escape themselves for that amount of time….
Of course the problem is when that detachment leaves you at a place where you picture yourself driving over a bridge or in front of a moving semi and not regretting that you had the thought…not sure if you would regret it if you did it….
Feeling detached is sometimes your only defense against your emotions….when you can’t control them you have to remove yourself from them since most people can’t remove their emotions. I guess it’s mind over matter …… but sometimes you can’t or aren’t ready to process through all of the emotions flooding your being, so instead of trying you simply detach yourself.

It’s strange what happens when people decide to start opening up about personal issues, thoughts, feelings, etc….It’s strange at what kind of things allow different people to lower their guards and be honest with others and themselves. Some people need others to trust in them before they will trust in that person…while others need a safe and small environment; still others sometimes only feel comfortable in front of a large crowd. I think it’s so strange that we are all built differently to feel comfortable in different situations. Some people have a best friend while others only really trust their family members. I’m sure some of it is how we are raised, but I think that some of it is hardwired into us….something that we are born with and can’t help….however, I do think that it can be altered by extreme upbringings.
So much of how we are is learned behavior…..I still believe that there are some things that we are just born with. What makes a person trust another person, or feel comfortable in one situation, while in another situation that might even be very similar, they are withdrawn and shy….I wonder what it is that makes people feel safe and secure?

Stripes and checkers
Colorful designs reside in black and white
Melting together into a blended gray.
Perception of them all blending together
Reality becoming a blur
Until all you see is one solid design
Colors don’t matter
Shapes are irrelevant
It’s simple perception that creates the new look
Through the eyes of one who never sees
Through the blurring of confusion
The new look appears and grows stronger
Strength and belief builds into reality.

Choices rumbling around
Tumbling up and down
From side to side things bounce
Caught in a heated fire of decision
Pacing back and forth
The same thoughts over and over
Trying to make the chaos make clear
Nothing new….same facts as before
Indecision fighting to continue
Knowing you must choose
Every day choices feel hard
One after the other you fight the apathy
Relying on your feelings you fight the indecision
Reality closing in
Decision making ………………

The soft colors of the leaves
Against the contrasting bright sky
The cold chill of fall removes the warmth of morning
Change becomes a part of every day life
The scenery so common around you
Is different every day.
The sky sometimes so bright, yet cold
Sometimes soft and padded with clouds
Clouds that role up with the tears of the sky.
Fall is the time of change,
Change of growth even as everything fades
We move forward and witness the passing of time
We must look at our surroundings and take heed
As we must grab opportunity before the change passes us by.
See the change quickly approaching
Seize the beauty of the change, before the bleakness of winter.
