Looking into her vacant eyes

Seeing the disappoint of her life

The pain and suffering trials

As the sun goes down the lights go out

Too hurt, dirty, and poor to get attention and help

Ignored as she sufferes in silence

You can see but don’t know how to approach

She pretends to read the book trying to gain an escape

Dreading the bus trip home but not as much as the arrival

The cold, dark, damp, and empty welcome that comes each day

Stomach rumbling as she closes the door

Going to bed under the thin ragged covers

Afraid to complain, and not knowing anything different

Living sad and lonely, dreams of breaking free

Reaching out with an encouraging smile, and gentle touch

You see her there but no plan of action

No right to intervene

No right to care, but can’t resist

The urge to hold and comfort someone so young yet so full of affliction

Not able to compare your own life of comfort to the one you see in front of you

So lost and lonely, with no link to everyone around her

Feeling the weight of her differences with no way to hid them

She remains in the back corner alone

Swimming through an ocean of blurred images

Lost in a peaceful world of new exploration

Bright colors and softened images float by

Only seeing the surface reflection of the outside chaos

Staying in the surrounding warmth

Something so vast can feel so comforting as it encloses you

Welcoming you into the new world

Not being rushed or judged, simply accepted

The amazing feeling of unhindered relaxation

Continued exploration with no hurry to resurface

You stay in a world that welcomes you as you are

Fit of Passion overwhelming your senses until you can’t move but wanting to push and bust open

The love of the person in front of you is stronger than any force you ever knew

The bed is made and now you hope to lie in it

Knowing you couldn’t want anything else in this moment of perfection

Feeling and grasping, Loving and struggling for breath

Only loving you, in this moment and the one before, and forever

Knowing that this is not an accident or a phase but something real

Something that I can no longer control or hide, something that has to be released to fulfill its potential

This passion and love will only continue to grow as we connect on more levels than just one

It’s not just physical it’s emotional and passionate

Something that is special between two people who are suppose to stay together

Swirling of the soul suddenly stops

Mirrored images of fairies and princesses fade away with the laughter and smiles

Disappearing and growing into reality

Escape of books and imagination becoming a distant memory

As you watch the little girl rise into womanhood through the trials of life

Facts of existence becoming authentic as the woman develops within

Seeing the new reflection of the eyes staring back at you, you realize

New feelings and emotions suppressing the old

Now and forever having to show the validity of the adult

No longer free to spin, dance, and play

No longer free to relax into a tea party or sing without shame

Having to let go of the carefree existence you once knew as reality

Can’t continue to converse with the good friends that dolls and teddy bears become

Sitting alone on the shelf as you wallpaper and paint over the kittens and bows

Not only the walls of the room changing but the inside of the girl

Looking into a world no longer full of innocence, no longer a peaceful sight

Only able to appreciate the occasional break in the clouds

To see the sun and remember the days that the princess was alive and well

When magical fairies were able to roam around the yard as you put on a show of delight for all of those around

Delight in the smile and laughing eyes of the innocent and true joy

The small moments of passion and love that take you back to a feeling of bliss unhindered by life’s existence

Good for the soul

As it rings out clear and true

From the heart

Shining through the eyes

As the smile turns into a joyful sound

Feeling sad, it lifts the spirits

Of you and those around you

Hearing the simply sound has a magic to it

One that can’t be replaced in the heart

And can heal many ailments

Something you need in life

Even the sternest of souls have to crack

Everyone has their point

You laugh so you don’t cry

You laugh to be heard

You laugh to be happy

I think it’s interesting that people throw a fit over how much violence is in the movies that kids watch today, but they never seem to worry about anything else.  I think that we should be more worried about not that kids might watch aliens or fighting with light sabers, but that they are being desensitized to much more realistic things in our every day society, like responsibility or hard work.  Today more kids than not are not held accountable for their own actions, and they do not realize that things that you get in this life need to be worked for.  I cannot believe how many teenagers and even younger kids that are angry with their parents because they didn’t get the latest IPhone, or whatever they are looking for.  Even though they still have nicer clothes, phones, and sometimes cars that I do and I have a job.  Many children these days don’t know what it’s like to have to work for anything.

I think that our society is worried about desensitizing our children to the wrong things.  I know there is the occasional crazy kid who thinks that the big battles on Star Wars are real, but I think for the most part kids only have healthy imagination and don’t actually feel the need to kill anyone after seeing a movie or playing a video game.  I do however think that we are doing our children a huge disservice by sheltering them from the realities of the real world and giving them more chances than anyone will give them as an adult.  Kids today get to go to summer school, or protest their grade, or have their parents protest their grades, or do online make up credits, all sorts of things, simply because they didn’t feel like doing the work the first time around and failed.  I don’t understand why we keep giving chances like this to children, it would be different if they were actually trying and just didn’t get it, but the ones I know will tell you out right that they simply didn’t feel like it.  Too many young people think that the world will bend to their whims and desires…it’s kind of scary when you think about a future of an entire generation that will be shocked when the realities of adulthood hit them…if they hit them….they might just keep going not understanding why things aren’t working out or letting their parents and grandparents continue to shelter them and do all of the work for them.

I have to wonder if kids today even know classic fairy tales, it seems to me that the media sources that we encourage today do everything in their power to distort the original work.  Like many things these days, it’s not what it use to be.  Fairy tales have been altered, and I don’t always think that’s a bad thing.  I think it might be a good thing to put Cinderella into a modern story line, even if it doesn’t carry some of the mystery that I feel comes with reading or watching about another time period, it might make little girls find the story more believable and inspire them to think it could be them one day, which I’m also not saying is a good or bad thing.  I think that we already entice our youth enough into believing that they can have or do anything that they want, but that’s for another post.

Sometimes I think Hollywood gets carried away by trying to make the younger generations interested in classic fairy tales by adding violence and cursing and just other extremes that take away from the innocence that was once found in nursery rhymes and fairy tales.  Maybe we want to see the happy ever after without feeling like we are watching a Shakespearean tragedy because dead bodies are covering the floor of the closing scene.  Maybe some of us like reading about the innocent love that the young couple is blinded into thinking will be perfect.

There are plays and movies out there like “Into the Woods,”  which I personally enjoy, but wouldn’t watch every day because it takes away the happy ever after part of the fairy tale that makes you feel good at the end of it.  Should we encourage such idealistic ideas in our children today?  Or should we push that it’s a harsh reality?

People are often times hard to figure out.  I have to wonder what motivates a person to do the things that they do, to live the way that they life….and I haven’t come up with an answer yet.  I’m sure all people are motivated by different things, and different actions are often motivated by different things.  Are there some things inside of us that drive us to do certain things, or act a certain way?  Do our emotions motivate us to do these things, people’s opinions of us?  Society’s protocol, where does that come in?

Joy, Lust, Passion, Doubt, Guilt, Anger:  All different emotions that get very different reactions from people at different times and towards different things.  I have to wonder how many of these things can motivate a person, are there more than one thing at a time that motivates a person, maybe pride and the well being of their family, or guilt as well as wanting to do the right thing….How many different motivating factors get strung into the background of every decision that we make as a person?

I know there are some people that act on a whim…all of the time, or so it seems, but even they are motivated by something, I don’t think that the decisions come all by themselves.  There are other people who sit for hours and make plans and lists.  Some people let other people make their decisions for them, not want the responsibility of a risky plan or one that back fires.

I think that we all have different things to consider in our lives, children, parents, siblings, spouses, lovers, friends, work, money, all sorts of different things that contribute into our plans for the future, or for decisions that take effect immediately.

Sometimes unforeseen things come our way

Casting plans aside, insisting on instant attention

Sometimes a person, accident, storm, anything

Sometimes they are positive things that we want to spare the time for

Sometimes Not

A great chance at something wonderful

Butterflies, Rainbows and Waterfalls

All coming at you in an instant

Beauty and Fear, New things and Old

All unforeseen in the future of your life

Moving through life with the sting of the stare

Always seeing, always wondering, what’s behind the whisper

The noisy confusion of the whispered gossip that blares out from behind closed doors

The static that surrounds you as you move in closer to listen, convincing yourself you don’t care

You keep on walking, Keep on moving so that nothing can catch up

Traveling over bridges built just to be burned, explosions of the mind deafening the bruises that glisten on the skin

Leaving destruction in your wake as you move through this life

Not knowing where you are going or when it will end

You keep on moving, avoiding what you cannot understand

The blend of people mingling all around you and yet not one of them sincere

Deceit the tool of their survival as they mold to fit the status quo

Fitting the latest movement of their life, no matter what it means for the mountains that fall on top of you

As you run, shuffle, crawl, forge, and sprint ahead trying to escape what will always be there

Moving through the life that was once dead

The tears that you bled, only create the next river that needs to be crossed

Setting up the scene for the next bridge to be built

The next relationship formed,

Keep on moving, no one will stop for you, no one moving aside, only merging

Once in awhile you’ll catch a waiting hand to help pull you up

But once you’re up you need to continue to move through the tough and the rough
