If one pulls back the curtain to peep in - the risk is that someone may, in turn, be staring back. In this case the motives of the peeper become the salient issue.

"Wil't please you sit and look at her?" ...
...since none puts back the curtain I have drawn for you, but I"

Very interesting thoughts. I also think that airport security has its problems, nobody seems to care about them until something happens and then all they are really caring about is who is in the media enough to blame. I wish that airports would stop checking the breast milk that mothers are caring with their newborns and start looking for other factors. I also wish that the speech writers would get it together before someone has to go on tv and make two exact opposite speeches within 24 hours because they don't have their act together. "This only proves that the system works..." "The system did not work in this case..."

We are controled by our obsessions and religion for many is obsession with habit and has nothing to do with actual faith as I have come to perceive it.

that idea doesn't bother me at all. the concept of god and afterlife is irrelevant. it's just another system of control. it's just another obsession that we waste our lives on. From what I can tell, human existence is worse for the existence of god... nothing good has come of it. we still behave like animals.

obsessed with only our failures, we fail to realize that regret is a vagary of life. it's like a storm or gravity. it can not be stopped nor contained.

yesterday is history
tomorrow is a mystery
today is a gift - this is why we call it The Present.

What if the alien is like the Christian God? What if it is still an all knowing being, or at least all knowing as far as we can grasp it? what if it is a creature that has such a higher threshold of intelligence, that we perceive it to being all knowing? Would it make any difference if it was an alien that lived with the same of it's kind across the galaxy somewhere, or would it still be the same "god" figure that most religions idolize? Does the title make that much of a difference...I bet it would in this case...I bet if you proved to people that we were just an experiment put here by a higher life form that lived as we did just in a more advanced way and in a different solar system, they would call you a liar, even with the proof right in front of them...kind of like the people who say we never landed on the moon even though there's video. I think it would be really interesting to see how people would react if they found out that your theory is true...it wouldn't change anything, because it is simply stating how everything is...and yet it would change everything by people's reactions to it....
I do agree that we need to do some exploring of the rest of the galaxy, I don't know why we think that we are the end all and be all of everything, we really should consider what else is out there before it is too late and this planet or our sun is no longer any good to us. I'm willing to bet that we have the technology for that type of space travel, just sitting around waiting for someone to put it all together and make it work.

I really enjoy this, in a dark kind of way. I like what it says about life and the lies that it is sometimes based on. Too often people lie to each other, but more importantly they lie to themselves. I often wonder how many people live in an altered reality because they can not face the truth, they can no longer tell the difference between a lie and the truth...they have convinced themselves that whatever they say is true, no matter if what they say or think is based in everyone's reality or not...it then becomes their reality.
I also think that it makes a great point about the brevity of life; how it disappears right in front of us.

-- Shakespeare corrections –

life is a bitch, a game,
a futile existence –
a leaf flickering with inconsistence
a puff of smoke blown away in the distance
life is a fight,
a bold-faced lie
told with conviction,
a purgatory ruled by bigots,
dominated with hate
a sacred word too often corrupted
by conflict and contradiction
life is a cruel joke too often repeated
humorous in its brevity
then gone in an instant

I think you make a great point. It seems I can't enjoy the end of a movie any more because I'm waiting for something crazy to happen. When it's a simple and straight forward ending I seem disappointed or at least surprised that nothing else happened. It's almost as if a movie can't be complete without a twist any more, especially thrillers. I was watching "While She Was Out" the other night and I was just waiting for someone to grab her at the end or her husband to be waiting with a pistol when she came in the door....I found the ending unbelievable. I remember when I only felt that way when there was a crazy twist...I guess it just goes to prove that you can have too much of a good thing.
