The Unknown

Every day leads to the unknown, even the best laid plans can become a jumbled mess of chaos.  Sometimes there are some moments that lead to ecstatic surprises that fill you with happiness and joy; then there are the moments with the unpleasant surprises that just lead to frustration and confusion…and leave you waiting for the next step to come your way.  Sometimes there is no way of knowing what will come next.  The world is made of wavering paths that we just do our best to keep balance on the wavering and ever changing roads that we find ourselves on.

Always running just to try and get a step ahead, but never knowing where that step will and, you could step on a gold mine, or into a hole of nothingness and then have to climb just to get back up on your feet.

Life is always full of the unknown, some of it good, some of it not so much…but we can’t do much except continue on and hope for the best.  Hope that eventually the bad will even out with the good and things will fall into place.  That plan that you’ve created in your mind for so long, and maybe you’ll be left to be happy, and maybe just a little less struggle will come your way, maybe just a little less of wobbly roads, and maybe something just a little more solid to stand on.

Too Much

There seems to be a thin line when trying to balance life out and experience it to the fullest…if you’re not involved in enough activities, groups, people, etc, then you feel like you never do anything but stay home….on the flip side when you start working multiple jobs, get involved with different clubs and groups, and start hanging out with different people it is easy to become overwhelmed to the point of not feeling like you ever have time for yourself….the problem being that by the time you get overwhelmed you are generally already committed, or have justified everything in your head to the point that you don’t want to back out of anything or give up anything…so then what do you do?  Continue to take away hours of sleep, just to get in some time to quiet your mind?  But if you use that as your answer, you start to suffer during the day….your patience grows thin, you get sick of things that are happening around you every day, you start not to enjoy being around the same people because you just want to be alone sometimes…What’s really sad is when you spend all of your time with people, and most of them are not the few that you really want to see….So now, you have a packed schedule, you’re seeing people that you don’t have patience for, and missing the people that you love.

I think that balancing out your life takes real talent…sometimes it’s a lot harder than you think, especially because every time you think you are walking along the tightrope without any problems, a strong breeze comes through and something throws you back off balance.  Sometimes you feel like you are trudging along, but as much as you try to move forward, sometimes you just sink deeper into the mud.

Other times things seem to go really well.  You do all of the things that you want to do, and see all of the people that you want to see….however, it’s easy to get distracted from the things that you need to do at that point.  I wish I could find that perfect balance between the two.

Balanced

Wobbly legs that crisscross across the water

Slippery water turned to sleek and slick ice.

Shaking arms out for supported footing

Placing one foot in front of the other

Feeling as if you’re on a tightrope

You walk through life

Tip Toeing around

Scissoring legs try to straighten themselves

Resisting the urge to give up and crawl

Continuing to hold your head up

Confidence does a lot for balance

Balanced for a moment

Looking on watching to see if they will make it

Wanting to come to their side

and hold their hand

Unwilling

Unable

Looking on, knowing that it’s your turn to stumble next

You hope for balance in your life

An unwavering hand to guide you

Give you what you lack

Give you want you want

Not just looking

Walking

Playing it Safe

Playing it safe with people gets you nowhere except hurt feelings and loneliness.  If you never get attached to people or let them all the way in, they will eventually drift away, or leave you feeling like it doesn’t matter if they are around or not, because they don’t really know you.

When you try to please everyone in your life, nobody ends up satisfied, including yourself…that isn’t good for anyone.  But then, who do you leave out???  I know many people pleasers and they are all  unhappy most of the time, because they spend their days trying to make everyone happy.  They do things to make the most people happy, rarely do they do anything to make themselves happy.

Now, there is obviously a thin line here, because we have too many completely selfish people in our society as well…I realize that you can’t go through life acting like an arogent jerk..well you can, but that’s not how I want to live my life…but you can’t go through life trying to please everybody in your life all the time either…Everyone loses when a person tries to stretch themselves too far.  Everyone will eventually feel neglected and detached from you.

It’s so hard to find the balance and order the priorities in life, but it needs to be done, or you will find yourself unhappy and all of those you are trying to stretch yourself between will be unhappy or feel like something is missing as well.

Confident, Beautiful, Joyful, Attractive, Intelligent….

Things to strive for in our personal life…

How can we always know what is important?

We have goals, aspirations…

But what holds importance when building our character, our outward image, and our lives….

What should a person focus on…if you don’t care about society at all,  you will be swimming against it all your life…you’ll be struggling, gasping for breath as the waves of people, commercialism, and accepted behavior wash over you each day.

If you care too much about society you’ll end up in your middle age, not really sure how you got to where you are, if you’re happy, or really anything about yourself…

Life is a balancing act…we all wobble a little up on the beam, but as long as you keep your arms out you can stay up.

Albert Einstein said…

“Life is like riding a bicycle.
To keep your balance you must keep moving.”

I think Einstein had a good point…we can’t give up on life, we have to keep moving through it, if we never take off the training wheels and fall a time or two we will never find the balance that we are looking for.  If we simply stop we will never see what is down the road, we will never discover what is in the world or in ourselves.
