I thought it was interesting today watching CNN…someone brought up the fact that the Media must have gone crazy…the only things that they have to say against President Obama is that there is an extra in a music video that looks like him and that he’s not showing enough emotion about the oil spill. I mean, what do these people really want? him to break down in sobs so that he can appear weak to the entire nation instead of strong and level headed. They even insulted the fact that he was in business pants when he was down on the site…what did they expect for a Presidential Press Event? I thought that the reporter who was commenting about this whole drama made a good point when he posed the question, do you want the President to play act the part for you, or go ahead and actually do something…

I have to wonder how often it is that the media gets people all hyped up about the wrong issues and how often people are pulled into the drama of the media craze….How often do people put their own priorities, thoughts and feelings aside because they have become caught up in the media frenzy and are now stuck on the point that has been driven into their head every time they have turned on the news or looked at the paper.

I wish our country would go back to thinking for themselves instead of being programmed into thinking whatever other people want them to think.

Treasures of the heart, breathe in soft and strong,

Clear and smooth they glide into your soul.

Crystals glisten from the depths of inside

Shining through your eyes, bright and clear.

The happiness, laughter, and most of all love.

The treasures….The things that bring you to life…that make you shine

The things that make life worth living.

Things that make you brighten no matter how hard life is at the moment

No matter what kind of day you have had…these are the things of importance.

The things we should remember, always.

What is life without the love and comfort of someone close to your soul?

Someone who’s love you can feel and breathe?

The person who completes your thoughts, laughs with you, and loves you?

These are the treasures too quickly forgotten.

I wish we could all slow down and remember the things that really matter in life…the little things that sometimes get taken for granted. Sometimes we deserve to take some time off from work and all of the every day stresses to just simply enjoy the gifts of love and friendship….the gifts of nature’s beauty, and the time we are allowed to spend in it all. I think that as the younger generations continually get use to instant gratification, the things that really make life worth living are being left behind…first children today are losing the appreciation of hard work and responsibility….what will it be next? I wish we our society pressed upon everyone the true treasures of the heart instead of material goods and casual sex appeal. I wish we could tell them that there is more to life than fitting in…I wonder if these are things a person needs to learn for themselves as they grow up….or if society really could change the goals of our youth if they pressed things in the media other than what they do now. I have to believe that the media is very effective in making young people think about certain things…thinking some things are more important than others. I just hope that in the process of growing up the younger generations will figure out their own set of priorities instead of the ones that people and the media set up for them. I hope they are able to find the true treasures of the heart.

Playing it safe with people gets you nowhere except hurt feelings and loneliness. If you never get attached to people or let them all the way in, they will eventually drift away, or leave you feeling like it doesn’t matter if they are around or not, because they don’t really know you.

When you try to please everyone in your life, nobody ends up satisfied, including yourself…that isn’t good for anyone. But then, who do you leave out??? I know many people pleasers and they are all unhappy most of the time, because they spend their days trying to make everyone happy. They do things to make the most people happy, rarely do they do anything to make themselves happy.

Now, there is obviously a thin line here, because we have too many completely selfish people in our society as well…I realize that you can’t go through life acting like an arogent jerk..well you can, but that’s not how I want to live my life…but you can’t go through life trying to please everybody in your life all the time either…Everyone loses when a person tries to stretch themselves too far. Everyone will eventually feel neglected and detached from you.

It’s so hard to find the balance and order the priorities in life, but it needs to be done, or you will find yourself unhappy and all of those you are trying to stretch yourself between will be unhappy or feel like something is missing as well.
