I have to wonder if kids today even know classic fairy tales, it seems to me that the media sources that we encourage today do everything in their power to distort the original work. Like many things these days, it’s not what it use to be. Fairy tales have been altered, and I don’t always think that’s a bad thing. I think it might be a good thing to put Cinderella into a modern story line, even if it doesn’t carry some of the mystery that I feel comes with reading or watching about another time period, it might make little girls find the story more believable and inspire them to think it could be them one day, which I’m also not saying is a good or bad thing. I think that we already entice our youth enough into believing that they can have or do anything that they want, but that’s for another post.
Sometimes I think Hollywood gets carried away by trying to make the younger generations interested in classic fairy tales by adding violence and cursing and just other extremes that take away from the innocence that was once found in nursery rhymes and fairy tales. Maybe we want to see the happy ever after without feeling like we are watching a Shakespearean tragedy because dead bodies are covering the floor of the closing scene. Maybe some of us like reading about the innocent love that the young couple is blinded into thinking will be perfect.
There are plays and movies out there like “Into the Woods,” which I personally enjoy, but wouldn’t watch every day because it takes away the happy ever after part of the fairy tale that makes you feel good at the end of it. Should we encourage such idealistic ideas in our children today? Or should we push that it’s a harsh reality?

Moving through life with the sting of the stare
Always seeing, always wondering, what’s behind the whisper
The noisy confusion of the whispered gossip that blares out from behind closed doors
The static that surrounds you as you move in closer to listen, convincing yourself you don’t care
You keep on walking, Keep on moving so that nothing can catch up
Traveling over bridges built just to be burned, explosions of the mind deafening the bruises that glisten on the skin
Leaving destruction in your wake as you move through this life
Not knowing where you are going or when it will end
You keep on moving, avoiding what you cannot understand
The blend of people mingling all around you and yet not one of them sincere
Deceit the tool of their survival as they mold to fit the status quo
Fitting the latest movement of their life, no matter what it means for the mountains that fall on top of you
As you run, shuffle, crawl, forge, and sprint ahead trying to escape what will always be there
Moving through the life that was once dead
The tears that you bled, only create the next river that needs to be crossed
Setting up the scene for the next bridge to be built
The next relationship formed,
Keep on moving, no one will stop for you, no one moving aside, only merging
Once in awhile you’ll catch a waiting hand to help pull you up
But once you’re up you need to continue to move through the tough and the rough

Stirring the heart, the fluttering returns
Pressing on the chest so that it is hard to breathe
Your dreams and reality collide together in overwhelming passion
Coming together for a few moments of peace found in the intimacy
The love and desire filling any gaps in the heart
Soft and warm, held in the adoring arms of the one you are connected to
Feeling free and fluttering off in thought and dreams
Happiness and Joy filling your eyes as you can’t prevent the smile shinning through

It’s amazing the advances that have been made in communication in the past 100 years, and yet it seems like people are communicating less and less, which is hard to believe with emails, twitter, facebook, blackberries and everything else that people have become addicted to in the past several years. With all of the comments and remarks that are made back and forth between people these days, I have to wonder how much actually gets said.
Some people have emotional breakdowns over what is posted on facebook, or someone’s blog, or God forbid, there is something wrong with their internet and they are cut off. It’s funny when the power goes out and you see people look at each other in wonder, asking what are we suppose to do, as if there are not activities outside the world of technology. It gets even funnier when someone does come up with something and they think, I’ll just message someone on the computer or email them or some other form of communication that doesn’t work, instead of simply calling them or going over to see them.
Actually going some place just to visit with people seems to have almost completely disappeared. I have to wonder why we allow ourselves to rely on technology the way we do. What is so important about checking our email as soon as it comes to the inbox, or feeling lost when we have no signal on our cell phone and can’t receive the text messages?
I’m not denying that communication and technology are important, I use them all of the time, in fact, I am one of those people that feels lost without access to the internet, even though I don’t use it every day, there is some type of comfort that comes with knowing that it is there if I want to be able to use it. We expect communication to be instant these days, I can’t remember the last time I actually sat down and wrote a letter, even birthday cards are becoming fewer and fewer, when you can save the postage and simply send an ecard or message them on facebook or send a text.
So is it better to have instant communication or more heartfelt conversation?

I thought it was interesting today watching CNN…someone brought up the fact that the Media must have gone crazy…the only things that they have to say against President Obama is that there is an extra in a music video that looks like him and that he’s not showing enough emotion about the oil spill. I mean, what do these people really want? him to break down in sobs so that he can appear weak to the entire nation instead of strong and level headed. They even insulted the fact that he was in business pants when he was down on the site…what did they expect for a Presidential Press Event? I thought that the reporter who was commenting about this whole drama made a good point when he posed the question, do you want the President to play act the part for you, or go ahead and actually do something…
I have to wonder how often it is that the media gets people all hyped up about the wrong issues and how often people are pulled into the drama of the media craze….How often do people put their own priorities, thoughts and feelings aside because they have become caught up in the media frenzy and are now stuck on the point that has been driven into their head every time they have turned on the news or looked at the paper.
I wish our country would go back to thinking for themselves instead of being programmed into thinking whatever other people want them to think.

Self Perception and insecurities can play a huge role in how you see the world. It’s always surprising that a lot of the problems that people have with the world are really based around insecurities that they have about themselves, the things that keep them from being self confident in how they look, act, or simply are….
Many people complain about other people or the way the media portrays people because they are insecure with that exact opposite about themselves…I never realized it before I had a conversation with a friend who pointed it out, but they were right…you very rarely hear a confident person complaining about other people, or the society that we live in…they just make it work because they are confident in who they are and don’t care what anybody else has to say or even think about it.
And in truth, it shouldn’t matter what anyone else has to say about you, because honestly, you are none of their business. Granted, everyone has a different life experience and therefore see things differently…the things that annoy me, or irritate me, may be the things that you enjoy and are glad to see in our world….a lot of it is based on our background, but a lot of it is also based on who we are as a person. If we are confident in who we are and what we do, then we shouldn’t have anything to worry about. I realize that sometimes that is easier said than done, but it should be the case.
I think it’s funny that as I stop and think about all of this, it is the people who are constantly saying how they don’t care what other people think, and make it a point that everyone knows that they don’t care, who seem to have the most insecurities. The ones who are promoting others not to do something because it is what society pushes for, are the same ones who try to talk themselves up or others down while condemning all society. Maybe it’s time for those people to take a look and do a little self examining before they go off about what’s wrong with this group of people or that group, or society in general…..
I don’t think it’s a bad thing for any of us to take another look and at least be knowledgeable about the fact that our self perceptions greatly affect our perceptions of society and the world that we live in.

You can only trust people to be as exactly as they are. A hard lesson that must be learned, or you can go through life trying to see the good and trusting people and getting screwed over in the end.
If you trust the people that only have their best interest at heart, to have yours as well, you will lose out every time. And then people want to quickly back track and let you know that you should go on trusting them…but why?? What’s your motive? There isn’t one….the only thing you can do is move forward a little wiser, and remember the lesson you learned about trust so that you never find yourself in that position again.
It’s such a shame that it comes down to this, I wish that we could believe what people tell us, and believe that they mean what they say when they appear to give a damn about you, but in reality, you have got to do what’s best for you. Because you are the only person that you know what lies behind in the depths of the mind as motivation. Everyone else’s dark recesses of the mind will always be a mystery. You can never know what lies behind the actions of another until the end game is seen. Trying to figure it out will only exhaust the mind, it’s better just to make sure that you are always watching out for yourself, and as selfish as that sounds, it’s better than getting screwed over.

How do we really know what the universe is? It could be any number of things depending on your perspective. Some people may be so focused on their job or their family that it becomes the only thing that is worth anything in the life and therefore is their universe. Nobody knows how far the actual universe goes on? Does it ever end? We speak of it as if it is the planets and stars that we have identified and know about; however, I think that we do that because an unending limitation of the actual universe is too much for a lot of people to comprehend, then we may have to admit that the Earth is not at the center of it, and that maybe humans don’t know everything.
I suppose each of us belong to a different universe if we are simply going by our experiences and perception of life and the world that we live in…

Looking through the glass at the other side of the window
Looking to see who is out there
Looking to see who is close by
Always watching, Always protecting, Always there
Seeing the people that matter
Seeing the things truly involved in life
Happiness coming to a head
Life leading down the paths we don’t choose
But ending with a smile and love
Sight of true life and a happiness that we thought escaped.
Feeling for them and seeing what they see
Seeing what you know to be true
Hiding behind the masks of the past no more
Embracing the person inside
Accepting the Love being offered.

Heaven…interesting word…I think it means something different to every person on the planet. Some people don’t believe that such a place exists…some people believe that they can find heaven on earth. Some people envision fluffy clouds and angels with harps…while others imagine a paradise customized to them.
One of the things that got me to thinking about what Heaven really is, is the movie What Dreams May Come, with Robin Williams. A very interesting movie that has a different interpretation of heaven and hell…or at least different to what I had grown up hearing for most of my life. The movie is kind of the same idea as The Lovely Bones as far as Heaven goes…meaning that each person can create their own heaven or they can travel and go to the shared part of heaven and see other people that share a vision of the same things of pleasure and peace. In both movies, the people have to figure out how heaven operates and they have a guide…I have to wonder if a guardian angel’s (if you believe in such things) job doesn’t end when you die, but rather is just beginning as they have to then guide you through the steps of existence in heaven….
I think that there is a mystery that intrigues a lot of people associated with anything that we can’t see or isn’t found in this life time. Heaven is one of those things that makes people wonder simply because it is something that wont have an answer until after you die…and even then you might not get to find out, depending on who ends up being right in the long run….Since there is no way to find out until we are indeed dead. Although some people believe that there are “near-death” experiences that reveal at least a slice of heaven or what lies on the way to heaven. There was even a gospel written by someone who claimed that they went to heaven and were able to see all that lies there, but it was decided that it was not worthy of the Bible.
Heaven can inspire so many thoughts, death, dying, hell, angels, God or gods…..
