The largest meaning can come from the smallest word, or a simple look, or the slightest change in tone….It’s amazing how much we can read into the words and actions of others, even when, at times there is nothing to read into, it was a simple statement to that person, but to you, it changed your whole perspective.

It’s crazy how some words hold such value to you, while another person just throws them away or uses them without spare.  How some words knock you down while holding another person up, maybe simply hearing them called that is what causes the conflict…..Words and body language are powerful tools, and deadly weapons, at least deadly in an emotional war.

Verbal and emotional wars happen all over, all the time, between all sorts of people.  Some of the things people say can really hurt and sting, or smolder until you think you’re going to go crazy if you don’t talk about it…what’s funny is that sometimes they don’t even know that they hold that kind of power.  A person who loves you and who you love and trust can really break you down with a simple word or phrase; or the lack of a phrase or kiss, or a change in body language towards you….It’s amazing how all of these things can mess with the human mind and emotions….

How can we keep our emotions from taking over the logical side when we have to rely on our emotions when dealing with the people that we love.  We don’t necessarily have to know why we love them the way that we do, with such fire and passion, we simply do, because our emotions are so over powering that they can’t be ignored by the logical side of things.  The same way that they can’t be ignored when they have been damaged or knocked down so hard that they are out of breath for the moment.

I wish we could realize the power that we have on the people around us, the influence that a simple kind word or remembering to call to say hello, give a hug or a smile, or say “I love you” to that one person…..that can mean a lot to someone who loves and trusts you, and/or someone who respects you.

News of Life

I started thinking about all of the types of news that people get every day:  personal news from family and friends, good and bad; news from work, good and bad, urgent or casual; media news on a city, state, nation, or world level, good or bad, happy or sad……people learn bits of news every day, and I think that every one of those pieces effects us, maybe in the smallest of ways, but I think that it effects us in the long run of things.  Good news builds and builds and makes a person feel good, but the same is with sad or stressful news in that it builds and builds until it starts to wear on a person.

Some people take bits that they learn about life in stride and just deal with things as they come, try not to let it in if it’s negative, and are sometimes quite successful, but it is still now a reality in their life, whatever that news is.  While others take everything that they learn on a very emotional level, they can’t help but let the emotions overwhelm them sometimes; a lot of the time it’s a conscious effort to keep logic ahead of emotion when they learn of news in life.

Some news reminds you how beautiful life can be:  falling in love, knowing that you have found the love of your life, seeing a new baby born, a sunset on the beach, children laughing, the view from a mountain top.  Other things remind you of how much life can hurt and how ugly it can be:  death of a younger person, natural disasters destroying homes and killing many, children lost or crying, someone you know becoming ill, etc.

So, there will always be good news and bad news as long as we have emotions we are going to respond to those things.  It’s part of being of the human race I suppose, but sometimes it can really weigh on a person, I suppose that’s why we need to remember the good things that we have in life and always deal with what comes as best we can. We need to try and not leave ourselves vulnerable to letting the bad, stressful, or sad news build on our hearts or minds.

The BitterSweet moments in life always come when they are the least expected.  Generally you don’t think, ‘wow I would love for this to happen because it will make me completely miserable in another way.’  The BitterSweet moments are what make us know we are alive, that we can feel, that we still have a beating heart that can love, be exulted, but still break and bleed.

Things to remember in life:

“True love promises risk, not a guarantee” -unknown

Sometimes you need to just go with things to see what happens next

Trust can be a friend or an enemy — you can either trust that things will work out the way they are suppose to, or feel betrayed by trusting your feelings

Someone always gets hurt – When you try to please everyone, everyone gets hurt.

Passion often rules over logic, so be careful who and what you are passionate about or you will be left vulnerable.

Honesty can only get you so far

You are the only one who has to live with you for 24 hours a day 7 days a week

Feelings Lie

The people who love you the most can hurt you the most

There is always something that you didn’t see coming

You never know what could happen – only what has happened, how you handled it, and try and prepare for if it happens again

You can never be prepared, everything changes with time, the same exact thing never happens twice

You will change with every event that happens in your life, the positive, the negative, and the bittersweet.

Actions Make it Real

Writing makes it real

Saying it makes you vulnerable

Hesitating leaves you empty

Wondering leaves you frustrated

You can only do,

And let things come as they are.

The question is if you never do and only write, in order to acknowledge happenings without opening yourself up to the world, what kind of life is that?  Is a life of no action or only safe decisions one that you want to lead?  Can writing about an experience really make it more real than the act itself?  To some people maybe.
